Constant use of words like “don’t touch,” “don’t do that,” “don’t run,” “sit down,” etc., gradually deprives a child of motivation and leads to lack of motivation in adulthood. On the other hand, excessive and unrestricted support can also be harmful because parents will not always be there to support the child, and the person must be able to enter society independently and handle their own affairs.
From a pathology perspective, unlimited support can be harmful because the person does not receive the support they had from their family when entering society, causing them to withdraw and lose motivation.

The fifth factor is unhealthy peer groups and social circles that lead the person down wrong paths. If the person feels that the path they have taken is wrong, they become unmotivated and discouraged.

  1. One way to improve lack of motivation is to minimize the use of smartphones and social networks. Technological advances can cause a person to become withdrawn and depressed, which in turn leads to lack of motivation. However, managing the use of virtual space can greatly help increase energy and motivation.
  2. The next strategy is to try to strengthen the generosity aspect within yourself and give more to others than you receive from them. This will raise your motivation and hope. People who are only used to receiving from others gradually experience burnout and lack of motivation.
  3. Always try to focus your attention on what you have. This does not mean ignoring your lacks and shortcomings, but rather placing your focus and mindset on your possessions to increase your motivation. Conversely, if your effort is focused on seeing the glass as half empty, you will gradually experience lack of motivation. But someone who focuses on what they have can gradually acquire their lacks and shortcomings as well.
  4. Try to teach what you have to others; transfer your experiences and knowledge because this exchange and circulation of information fertilizes your brain to absorb new information and increases your motivation and hope, as it gives you a sense of usefulness and improved efficiency.
  5. Create needs for yourself even if you do not have any because feeling need drives a person to effort and activity. For example, a person who needs water will seek water, while someone who feels no need will remain stagnant and inactive.

Toxic, negative, pessimistic, and unmotivated people have suppressed these factors within themselves. They constantly fuel lack of motivation with phrases like “I can,” “I know it won’t work,” or “Even if I do it, nothing special will happen,” and so on.
If you allow these negative expressions to become your core beliefs, then you will become trapped in lack of motivation. Inner dialogue and mental framing play a significant role in forming a person’s motivation.
Factors such as past parenting style, negative inner dialogue, toxic people, and so on, deprive you of motivation and action. Sometimes, it is you who can move motivated toward your goal by eliminating these factors. Therefore, try to leave behind negative past experiences and increase your motivation by following the mentioned guidelines.
